Feng Shui For Selling Your Home

Feng Shui means living in harmony with the environment.  In real estate it’s become a verb, so that many people “feng shui” their homes to create a feeling of harmony, relaxation and abundance.  The concept of living in harmony with the environment is a comparatively new idea in the West, but it has been practiced in the East for thousands of years. The land supports the house, the house supports the rooms and the rooms support the residents. By simply rearranging your furniture, hanging wind chimes outside or placing a vase filled with flowers in your bedroom, you can affect the universal force called ch’i – the magnetic force that attracts good luck and prosperity.

These are feng shui tips to attract good luck when selling your home:

  • Make the walk from the car to the front door a delightful experience – perhaps putting a red potted plant near the front door.
  • Put away anything with sharp edges, including butcher-block knife sets.
  • Dried flowers should be avoided.  They are extremely bad feng shui.  Silk flowers are okay, but live are best.
  • Exterior flower gardens symbolize progress, happiness and longevity; plant an array of color.
  • A large mirror in the dining room reflects food on the table and is very beneficial.
  • A water feature in the foyer such as an aquarium or fountain.
  • A live bouquet of flowers and/or pair of candles in the master bedroom.
  • Open all blinds, shutters, curtains and drapes.  Light attracts good ch’i.
